you’re an earthling, too.

We support humans of all ages to engage ecology in their classroom, office, or home.

(You can also come visit us at our community learning center!)

Earthlings NYC creates programming to nourish citizen science and ecology-related education in our communities. We are a 501(c)3 initiative affiliated with Seeds To Soil and Prime Produce, based out of the cooperatively-run Guild for Good guildhall at 424 West 54th St in Hell’s Kitchen.

We provide opportunities for learners of all ages to interact with creatures they may not otherwise encounter living in New York City. Whether it’s a tiny little beetle grub or a hefty tortoise, there is always something living organisms can teach us about the world and about our selves!

OUR PROGRAMS!

beetle buddies: entomology

with desert beetles

We have a year-round collection of southwestern desert beetles as well as various invertebrate “special guests” from our team, neighbors, friends, and program partners. (And, yes, if you found a really neat arthropod that your parents/roommates/partners won’t let you keep, you can email us to see if we want it!)

We currently run educational workshops for classrooms, workplaces, and communities on an ad hoc basis. Drop us a line!

Through a special partnership with the Prime Produce creative community, we are also creating 1 of a kind beetle art enclosures that you can sponsor, host, and steward (with support from our team) at your school, office, hotel, or home! Join our network of grassroots entomology learner-educators with your Beetle Buddy Box sponsorship!

The turtle team: wildlife conservation with turtles

This is a program where we take care of turtles. Part citizen science initiative and part conservation education program, the turtle team works with native NY turtles as well as rescued turtles. Through our partnership with the New York Turtle and Tortoise Society’s rescue and rehabilitation program, participants help to care for (and sometimes train) turtles as they learn about herpetology, life science, and our local ecologies– as a community!
